Professional Non-Anesthetic Preventative Dental Cleanings are a sedation-free procedure where visible tartar & invisible plaque are removed from your pet’s teeth using low-stress handling with gentle dental techniques. While non-anesthetic dental cleanings are helpful to safeguard the health of your pet, they are NOT a replacement for, or an alternative to, veterinary anesthetic dentistry. They are a supplemental cleaning therapy with unique advantages, including:
• Early disease detection — Examining your pet’s gums and teeth more frequently can reveal subtle warning signs, while more regular scaling and polishing can uncover hidden disease.
• Oral health preservation — An extra oral health routine to effectively increase prevention of periodontal disease when initiated early.
• Slowing periodontal disease progression — When disease is already present, regular cleaning breaks the painful tooth decay and damage cycle by removing harmful bacteria.
• Extending the time between dental cleanings under anesthesia — Most pets require a full dental cleaning and X-rays under anesthesia every 6 to 12 months. However, more frequent non-anesthetic cleanings may prolong a deep cleaning’s positive benefits, making need for deep cleanings less frequent.
Please note: Tooth repairs, oral surgeries, & extractions can only be performed by your licensed veterinarian. Our non-anesthetic dentals are only supplemental oral cleanings, used to remove tartar that is visible and plaque that is not visible above the gumline.
